Heather has been in frontline work and/or human services since 2005 after graduating with a Social Services Worker Diploma and a degree in English Literature. She began a lengthy career in the non-profit field of sexual violence in 2009 which has lended numerous opportunities to deepen skills in crisis intervention and response, counselling, program research and development, community education, advocacy, and leadership. Heather’s experience includes operational logistics, data collection and collation, funding, evaluation, and liaising with partners, government representatives, businesses, and other non-profit organizations. The experience of working in this field has allowed Heather to support children, youth, individuals, and families in crisis, long-term trauma impacts, healing, and moving forward.

Heather furthered her social work education at the University of Calgary, graduating with a Bachelor’s degree in 2022. She is currently enrolled in a Master’s of Social Work program through the University of Calgary with a clinical focus on trauma-informed practice.

Heather values movement, energy, connection, rest, and ongoing learning and discovery. Understanding how the body works in tandem with healing the mind and heart are passion areas which translate into supportive services to clients. She is certified as a 200HR Yoga Teacher and trained in trauma-informed, trauma-sensitive, restorative, vinyasa, and yin yoga.

Outside of the professional realm, Heather and her husband are raising three children, own and operate a fourth generation grain farm, spend winter weekends at the rink, and summers at the lake.
